Raw Milk Risks (as provided by MPI)

Whilst every care and precaution is taken to ensure you, as one of the Limited Partners, receives product which is safe to consume, it is important that you are aware of the following potential health risks, as is required by MPI (Ministry of Primary Industries).

Raw milk may contain pathogens that can cause illness.

Heating raw milk to 70*C for one minute will reduce the food safety risks.

Raw milk is not suitable for young children, pregnant women, the elderly and those whose immune systems are compromised.

Introducing Raw Milk Into Your Diet

Due to the western diet, where previously we used to consume 10-15 servings of fermented food per day, nowadays the average person consumes little if any. For this reason when you are introducing a raw food into your diet (ie. Raw Milk) you should begin slowing with small amounts so your body can adjust to the beneficial microflora.

If you do get sick and can relate to one of the following:

  1. - are new to traditional eating,
  2. - have a weaker immune system
  3. - leaky gut
  4. - known gastrointestinal dysbiosis
  5. - candida
  6. - suspected parasites
then it would pay to go off all raw foods including raw fermented vegetables and raw milk until you have recovered. Instead take a probiotic that is going to provide specific necessary probiotic strains.
